Covid-19: Apple bans an application to organize parties

“Do you miss beer pong, flirting with strangers and having fun with friends?” Vybe is here for you. “In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the message from the American application Vybe Together displeased Apple, which banned it, reports The Guardian.

The app that encouraged its users to meet in underground places has been removed from the App Store. Additionally, his TikTok account was deleted and much of his online presence wiped out – his website is no longer available.

Organize secret parties

Vybe presents itself as a space to organize parties and attend them without respecting the social distancing measures introduced to fight against the coronavirus. Its slogan: “Awaken your rebellious side, organize your party. “

Users, after signing up and posting photos of themselves in the evening, could create private events that other members of the app could request an invitation to, explains. The Guardian. Those the host approved were then given directions to join the party, just two hours before the event began. What reminds us of the huge rave party which gathered more than 2,500 people in Brittany between Thursday December 31st and Saturday January 2nd.

In the description of the application on the App Store, Vybe Together recognized that the pandemic is “a major health problem” and defended itself by emphasizing promoting “small events” rather than “large-scale parties” which are ” dangerous ”.

The app, however, promoted “gatherings every weekend” in a video posted to TikTok. While it is not known whether Vybe Together really caused illegal parties, the application does not intend to stop there. His Instagram account states: “We will be back! ! ”
